Man it’s been too long. House of games has had a long hiatus and so have I. I got a new job which is taking up much of my time. This was also scheduled the same weekend as ludum which is unfortunate but I doubt I would’ve been able to do both. Anyway.
The theme for the jam was Fire. It was sponsered by guess who. I recently purchased an Oculus Rift and I am/was super excited to develop something for it. So we tried to make a mine cart game.

Some post mordems. The RIFT is hard. I ran into tons of trouble with the drivers. Multiple times the rift would freeze or get stuck in some weird state. 3D is also hard. Spent a lot of time making art assets line up. Need to figure out a way to easily line things up. Maybe more use of triggers idk. We had a hard coded distance for each mine track that I setup manually. Lot of manual translations and rotations. Too much for 1 programmer to do.
Also I need to figure out how to put a person on a spline. Oh well it works. Not very game like though.
Also not sure if the rift will work with this build. I’ll test it later or you can leave a comment.
